Verse Of The Day:
"Be still, and know that I am God"... (Psalm 46:10) [NIV] Verse Of The Day loading... Saturday, July 31, 2010 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. This passage really reminds me to fix my eyes on Jesus, and to do my best as if everything I do is for God. Especially when i go for RT and run the worldly race where i can easily slack off, i remind myself that i do it for God and so i try my best. Labels: scripture
Yes we must run with perseverance because the road is long and not always smooth... what does it mean to... Fix our eyes on Jesus, consider Him -> this means more than just simply thinking of him in our head!!! It means to FOLLOW him, obey Him and take Him as an example. - follow his teachings from the bible (the bible teaches us PRACTICAL lessons on how to relate to each other, fight temptation and basically how to live our daily lives etc -> if we dont read the bible how do we follow :S -> we must be careful that it is not our own teachings we are following... ) - put our hope in the eternal joy promised to us (as opposed to things on earth) ->> so that we will not grow weary & lose heart
yeah i think it's a very good point to be careful that it's not OUR OWN teaching that we're following.. i think very often we'll tend to integrate whatever bible knowledge we have with our own lives and hence adding such knowledge to prove our resistance for change.. what's more important is to CONSTANTLY reflect on our thoughts and actions and see whether it really conforms to the bible or whether it tends to conform us towards this world..
