Verse Of The Day:
"Be still, and know that I am God"... (Psalm 46:10) [NIV] Verse Of The Day loading... Saturday, August 14, 2010 Realised haven't been able to post for some time. With the starting of school, I find myself having less time, effort and motivation to continue to pursue God through quiet time and much less to share on this blog. As my initial strong passion for drawing close to God starts to die down, I also find myself more and more affected by the world around me and more susceptible to temptation & sin. I pray that God gives me perseverance to continue to seek Him & strength to overcome sin, let me experience the extent of His love & grace and renew me day by day in His image. I am also learning that change may not be an instant process. Please pray for me (& yourself & each other as well). --- Praying for the Right Things Job 35:9-12 (New International Version) 9 "Men cry out under a load of oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful. 10 But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, 11 who teaches more to us than to the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?' 12 He does not answer when men cry out because of the arrogance of the wicked. I was often skeptical about things that I pray for because it seems that sometimes things we pray for happen and other times they don't. But I learn that it's because we are often praying for the wrong things. Often, especially during times of difficulties, we pray for easy solutions, e.g. for God to remove our problems, for wealth, for results etc but what God really wants is for us to seek Him & grow in Him through these experiences. Then this is what we should be praying for. As we grow and learn to abide in Him, He will conform our minds to His ways and I believe that we will see our prayer more in tune to His will.
Haha!! so we must read the bible more often so we can know God's will and to pray according to God's will; and whatever we pray that seeks God's will, God will surely answer de.. =D
God indeed wants us to grow! Continue to seek Him in prayer and desire Him. I think that when left to our ownselves, we do not know really how we should pray no matter how hard we try, unless the Spirit teaches us, leads us, and unless we keep God's word in our hearts. One way God speaks to us is through His word during prayer, where initially we may pray for something, but when the God puts a verse or passage in our minds, what we continue to pray for can differ from what we initially intended to pray by much. And often so counter intuitive i might add. May you continue hoping in the Lord! 28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
