Now this is what the LORD Almighty says: "Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. [Haggai 1:5-6]
"You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the LORD Almighty. "Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house. [Haggai 1:9]
i think this passage causes a little stir in our hearts (at least in mine), about the amount of effort we put into God and His ministries relative to what we put into our own lives.. we all lead such busy busy lives, we need to pray for balance; and abundance that (note:) overflows from the church into our lives (and not the reverse, i.e. overflows from our lives to the church)..

and yet another question is the part about- "What you brought home, I blew away." and i initially found it very odd because it seems (in this sense) that God isn't very efficient (i.e. quite wasteful) in managing resources in this aspect.. but to quote from Warren W. Wiersbe - "If all God wanted to do was get the work done, He could send His angels, and they would do it better and faster. But He not only wants to do something THROUGH us, He also wants to do something IN us".. in each of us, is a work in progress, and we learn throughout this life on earth, to perfect our service towards God - because that's just what we'll be doing for the rest of eternity! and God never wastes, He's much more concerned about whether we learn than whether He's wasting His resources; He's the creator anyway, the earth is merely His footstool..

truly we are all very busy with our own lives... how many hours of our day do we dedicate to God... 1 hour out of the 16 hours we are awake? or even less....

really hope and pray that as a tuanqi, each and every one of us can grow up in God and stop being another lukewarm 'christian'.

Hope that everyone can have this belief and vision for their own lives.

PS. pls (pls pls!) use this blog as a platform to share your struggles and encouragements and whatsoever n hopefully it can help us all grow together...

Have been listening to John Piper's sermons and i think he challenges us in another way from what i've gathered so far.

It's one thing to set apart a portion of our time solely to do our devotionals. Yet let's look at the rest of our time awake as also being fully devoted to God, where we constantly gaze at Christ in our hearts, our thoughts, through our actions. Everything we do being an outflow of the Holy Spirit being manifest in our every intention and gesture.

Hope that we will invite God every morning to reign in our bodies and make us new creations, that what we think or do is of the Spirit and not of our sinful human nature, which can never please God.

yeah, i think it's really important to live our lives as a testimony to God and His glory.. and it's really good to submit the day's agenda to God and ask God to just lead and guide us throughout the day according to His plan..

it's through reading the Bible that we get strength, and that we can hear God speak; and it's through prayers and submission that we can ask God to guide and then we see the works of His hands..

what a privilege it is, for Christians to ask for guidance; but yet often, we prefer to trust a small child - ourselves - to hold the driving wheel, which inevitably leads to disaster at the end of the day..
