i don't know how you guys feel after reading this first chapter of John, but i must admit i'm quite dumbfounded by what i didn't know and understand..

verses 1-5 contains a lot of poetic and even abstract phrases like "without him nothing was made that has been made".. i didn't understand the need for that phrase when the first part of the sentence ("through him all things were made") was sufficient already.. and this is only the first verse..

but thank God there are online bible commentaries that will help us along the way.. one such commentary i've found is at http://www.christnotes.org/commentary.php?com=mhc&b=43&c=1.. do take a look at it to help clear some doubts or to understand the significance of parts of the passage..
