as Christmas approaches, what do we intend to do? in church, we have the silent jazz night planned for us; at home we might go out for a nice expensive dinner at some restaurant; with friends, just chilling around and enjoying each others' company..

well, nothing wrong, right?? it took a new believer to let me realise - this is all wrong!!! Christmas is NOT about rejoicing that we are Christians, Christmas is NOT about fellowship with fellow "saints", Christmas is NOT about good food, good music, and relaxation.. if God decided to have it our way, Jesus would not have came down to this world and suffer, He would have feasts upon feasts with His angels, toasting to wine and having the biggest turkey or whatever He pleases..

but God remembered us, sinners. God remembered us - the helpless, the lonely, the ugly, the pitiful, the terrible terrible people.. and Christmas represents the time we remember the time when God GAVE us His Son..

this Christmas, may we remember, that it's a season of giving.. not just to friends, family and those close to us, but it's a season of giving to everyone, especially the ones who hate us, giving to the ones who cannot repay our kindness, giving to the ones who reject us. And let us remember those who missed out on this occasion - be it because of poor health, or because they remain persecuted in their countries, or even because they are just ignorant of this season of giving. Let us pray continually for these people, that God will reach out to them and bless them with joy, peace and knowledge of the Saviour Jesus.

it took a new believer to remind me of how jaded i am as a Christian. Dear brothers and sisters, let us leave the path of comfort and hold on to this opportunity to LOVE those around us. Let us spend some time with God today to ask God to open our eyes to those who need Him, and to bring back lost sheep to God instead of enjoying the lamb shank..

this is my lesson learnt from a new believer this Christmas.
