Don't Neglect Reminding...

It is essential to say grand old truths again and again. There is ample evidence in the Bible that they are quickly forgotten.

Remember, there are different kinds of forgetting.

One is that great truths are gone out of the mind never to return. The other is that they are gone out of the mind for a season (a day, a year) while we languish in discouragement and sin.

Don’t follow Israel here:

“And the people of Israel did not remember the LORD their God, who had delivered them from the hand of all their enemies on every side.” (Judges 8:34)
Rather, submit to Peter:
“I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder.... This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder.” (2 Peter 1:12-13; 3:1)

God has given us different capacities of memory.. Yet, most of us, can hardly remember what we've done the previous week or fortnight without much straining on our part. How much easier it is then to forget things taught by the Spirit time and again unless we are constantly being reminded. May God use us as instruments of mutual reminder of His truths that sustain us in this race. Being an easily forgetful person, I myself need godly reminders of my own schedules, tasks, and more importantly the promises of God!

indeed, it is very very important to remember the amazing that God has done for us such that we will always be thankful and will never forgot His mercies..

we should also remember the painful lessons learnt of our disobedience and the times when we've selfishly decided to stray away from righteousness to pursue a moment of folly.. of extra sleep, or merely to procrastinate when doing something..

more importantly, it is to remember that our God is a Holy God. we his children, thus have to be Holy as well.

hehe i find it quite amazing - today's verse of the day says:

“[The Law of the LORD Is Perfect][To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.] The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.”(Psalm 19:1-2)

we have bad memory, but the heavens and the earth reminds us of God all the time!!
